Nestle company to shell out Rs226 crore on Indians first R&D centreNestle S A, Swiss beverage and food goliath worth $101-billion yesterday declared some strategy for establishing up its first R&D Centre in India at a price of approximately Rs226 crore (CHF 50 million).

Vevey the Switzerland-based Nestle shall be establishing up over 240,000 square feet R&D facility at Manesar which is very close to its Indian headquarters which is located in Gurgaon and will be operational in 2012.

This investment by the manufacturer of Nescafe coffee, kit kat and Maggi noodles are amongst its 6,000 other brand and will further help to toughen its R&D capabilities in upcoming markets and where the company is expecting the sales to rise 45 per cent of total by the year 2020.

Amongst the oldest international food companies in India, Nestlé has its presence since 1912 in India and at the moment operate seven factories based all over the country and Its sales reached Rs5,222 crore in year 2009.

In July 2010, Antonio Helio Waszyk who is Nestle India's chairman and managing director had expressed earlier that the group was mulling acquisition in India while having a vision to increase its product line and further plans to start additional products in the upcoming months.

Nestle stated that its new R&D centre will concentrate on "popularly positioned products" (PPPs), though for the Indian market especially , but also worldwide markets to meet up the requirements of low-income consumers by presenting them products of high-quality and nutritionally enhanced at affordable prices.
