New Jersey man abandons 20-month-old daughter at a gas station

For allegedly kidnapping his daughter and abandoning her at a Delaware gas station, a New Jersey man was charged in two states on Thursday.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said in a release Dwayne Jackson, 25, of Edison was arrested in New Jersey, where he is charged with kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child. He was ordered to be held in lieu of $750,000 bail.

Charges of first-degree reckless endangering were filed by Police in Newark, Del.

A child crying in a locked men's room was found on Sunday when a customer at a Shell station near an Interstate 95 exit in Newark heard the cries of the child. Police found the girl, who has since been identified as Jackson's 20-month-old daughter.

The child was placed in a foster home in Delaware while police and child welfare officials searched for her family. Investigators said she was identified after photos and video were released to the news media. (With Input from Agencies)
