With the new Platina, Bajaj aims at the top post once again
Bajaj Auto, the second largest two-wheeler maker in the country following Hero Honda is aiming for the top slot with its new Platina. Already in a roll with its Discover DTS-Si, the company expects to bank roughly around 50,000 units of its new Platina.
Notably, the company has sold mind-boggling 5-lakh units in its first 225 days of journey and the unit sales are shooting up fast. In fact, with the company slowly decreasing the gap among Hero Honda in terms of unit sales, analysts believe that the company has the potential of displacing the latter from the top slot.
The new version of the product is a 125-cc which already has two million units running on the Indian roads since it was launched in the year 2006.
With the focus now coming back to the entry-level segment Bajaj is gaining the one lost ground fast in the Indian market. "Hero Honda is very strong in the entry-level segment but our focus is to ensure a profitable growth in the Indian market," explained S. Sridhar, CEO (2-wheelers), Bajaj Auto.
