Islamabad, Sept. 2: Former Pakistan Prime Minister and chief of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Nawaz Sharif, has told the former Governor Punjab Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar that his party would not compromise on its principled stand.

According to the sources, Sharif said the nation had given the PML-N a mandate in the February 18 elections to restore the deposed judges and undo Musharraf's extra-constitutional steps.

Sharif also said that he pulled out his party from the ruling coalition because pledges and agreements were not honoured.

Later, talking to reporters outside the Punjab House, the party's Secretary Information Ahsan Iqbal said that PML-N would continue its efforts for the restoration of the deposed judges and for repeal of the 17th Amendment.

He said the deposed judges should be restored through a National Assembly resolution and an executive order in accordance with the Murree declaration.

Ahsan Iqbal said a number of deposed judges of Sindh and Punjab High Courts have been brought back through a notification of Ministry of Law whereas the PPP had all along been saying it wanted to reinstate judges through a constitutional amendment.

He said a fresh oath taken by the judges would affect their seniority.(ANI)
