Kuala Lumpur - An Indonesian man was crushed to death when an 8-metre-long slab of concrete fell on him during a community clean-up in Malaysia's central state of Selangor, news reports said Monday.

Shuhaidi Suardi Jawari, 47, was helping to clear rubble on a piece of land that was to be turned into a parking lot in his community, city police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed said.

The slab fell on him suddenly, severely injuring him in Sunday's incident, the New Straits Times daily reported.

The victim died before reaching a nearby hospital, it said. (dpa)
