CCRAS signs MoU with UU to widen the scope of Ayurveda With a view to prop up the traditional medicines in the state, Orissa's premier educational institute Utkal University on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha (CCRAS).

As per the signed MoU, the two institutes will carry out joint research and clinical studies for launching evidence based system in Ayurveda.

Commenting on this significant development, G S Lavekar, director general, CCRAS said: “Orissa has the credit of having developed successful ayurvedic treatment of many diseases for human, animals and even for plants. After this understanding the two institutes will validate the traditional method medicine with multi-disciplinary approach."

Lavekar also said that ayurvedic medicines have the ability to deal with all chronic diseases and can even take care of the side effects of chemotherapy. Furthermore it improves the quality of life for those who are suffering from cancer.

The signed MoU also adds that a Herbal Garden will be opened in the campus of Utkal University.

Meanwhile, speaking ob the same occasion, Prof Rath (VC, Utkal University) informed that the financial support for this project would be given by the Central government. Moreover, it would also facilitate students for research work.
