Committee to probe into allegations put on VC of Aligarh Muslim University
The Human Resource Department (MHRD) has decided to set a committee to probe into the allegations against the Vice-Chancellor (VC) P. K. Abdul Azis of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The VC has been accused of financial irregularities.
The decision to set up a committee came after eight members of the Executive Council, including Congress leader Wasim Ahmed, submitted a 450-page memorandum.
The Aligarh Muslim University Teachers Association (AMUTA) has welcomed the decision; however, it has demanded the VC's resignation so that fair and free trail could be conducted.
Human Resource Department (MHRD) officials said that the fact finding committee will inquire about the functioning of AMU, which includes the allegations against the VC.
Different people have expressed different opinions regarding the allegation put on the VC, and hence the HRD ministry has decided to probe into the matter.
The University officials claim there is nothing to inquire about; whereas the AMU community opines that some vested interests have launched the media trial to malign the reputation of the University and its VC.
The AMU community revealed that it has received no enquiry letter by the MHRD officials; but the media has created unwanted hype over the issue.
