Seven more persons have tested positive for swine flu in West Bengal, taking the total number of cases in the state to 39.

Giving this information, Tapas Sen, the nodal officer in-charge of swine flu data, said that out of the 7 fresh cases, a 3-member family has been kept in 'home quarantine' in North 24-Parganas region.

Sen added that a boy named Akash Chaudhury, who was tested positive for the virus, was in serious condition.

"His condition was as it was on Saturday. There has been no deterioration. He continues to be serious", said Sen.

Currently, Akash has been kept in the ICU of R G Kar hospital.

Sen further informed the media persons that a total of 18 people were discharged after treatment for the infection, while 21 patients, who tested positive for H1N1 virus, have been admitted to three different hospitals in the city.

Meanwhile, the state education department had already issued guidelines to the district authorities on the crucial steps required to be taken to fight out the infection among school children.
