Most Whales areas have worst broadbandAccording to Ofcom’s newly released interactive broadband map, much of Whales has the worst broadband connection in the UK.

The new clickable map released by the communications regulator allows users to check the take-up and speed of broadband in their area. The map shows 12 county council areas in Wales had the worst broadband connection.

The users can easily see broadband provisions in 200 administrative authorities across the UK. The areas have been graded with one to five, with five being the poorest overall broadband provision in terms of the percentage of addresses within the coverage area of superfast broadband networks, average broadband take-up, average actual speeds and the percentage of homes with broadband below the speeds of 2Mbit/s speeds.

The map has color codes with green ranking highest, and red lowest and it also has different categories to offer an overall picture of broadband connectivity in the UK.

Torfaen, Wrexham, Conwy, Gwynedd, Merthyr Tydfil, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, Flintshire and the Isle of Anglesey are the twelve authorities in Whales that received the lowest score on the map. Overall Whales recorded an average speed of 6.5 Mbit/s, below the national average of 7.5.

The new clickable map, which is a part of the Communications Infrastructure Report, has been compiled using data directly from the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the country. the regulator believes that the map will be helpful to local authorities bidding for funds for providing super fast intern connections to the users.
