 Security personnel arrest two militants in AssamGuwahati, Sep 30 : In a joint operation, personnel of the Indian Army and the paramilitary Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) arrested two militants of the People''s Liberation Army here on Thursday.

They recovered a grenade and a laptop from the arrested duo.

"Under the leadership of the SP (Superintendent of Police) we conducted this operation and one of the them was arrested from Big Bazaar. The other one was caught from a train at around 5.30 a. m. with a grenade and a mobile phone," said Pratap Chand, Sub Inspector, Central Reserve Police Force.

"Also a laptop and a mobile phone have been seized from the militant who was caught from Big Bazaar," he added.

The arrest comes as a success for the local security forces, which are on high alert during the ongoing festive season.

The People''s Liberation Army is a leftist organisation formed in 1978 with the aim of liberating the region of Manipur from India. The PLA aims to organise a revolutionary front covering the entire Northeast and unite all ethnic groups, including the Meiteis, Nagas and Kukis, to liberate Manipur. (ANI)
