Nokia Unveils Four New Reasonably Priced Handsets

With an idea to speed up the sluggish market growth in Europe as well as Nokia's New Reasonably Priced Handsets North America, the Finnish company Nokia has unveiled four new handsets at the "Growing Together 2008" conference held in Johannesburg.

Targeting replacement buyers, the newly introduced handsets range include Nokia 5000, Nokia 2680 Slide; Nokia 7070 Prism; and Nokia 1680 Classic.

Expected to be priced around Euro 90, the new Nokia 5000 features a 1.3 mega pixels camera, high-resolution QVGA display, FM radio together with recording facility and MP3 ring tones. It is best for professional persons as well as those, who’re in traveling jobs. It supports email and other benefits such as Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging, Bluetooth, and GPRS connectivity. It is likely to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2008.

Targeting growing markets, the Nokia 2680 is the entry-level slim slider mobile phone that comes with an FM radio with recording potentiality, camera and MP3 ring tones and an expanded phone book among others. Expected to be priced at Euro 75, Nokia 2680 will ship in the third quarter of the existing year (2008).

The Nokia 1680 Classic, which is said to be Nokia’s reasonably priced camera phone, features a VGA camera, E-mail, phone sharing functionality, video recording and one-touch access for photos and videos. Expected to be priced at Euro 50, it will ship in the second quarter of 2008.
 
The last of the newcomers, the Nokia 7070 Prism is a flip phone that provides personalized content such as themes and wallpapers, and MP3-grade ring tones. Besides, it boasts a voice recorder and handsfree speaker. It is expected to begin shipping in Q3 of 2008 for EUR50.
