Novatium Solutions launches its $100 Nova NetPC; Gets into deal with MTNLThe Chennai based- Novatium Solutions, which was incubated at IIT Chennai recently launched their Nova NetPC in Mauritius, in collaboration with Mauritius Telecom. The device is basically server driven with all the updates carried out centrally through the server.

The Nova NetPC is very economical, and the company is planning to expand it internationally, by making it available to almost 1,00,000 households by 2012.

The Nova NetPC is said to be marketed in 10 Indian cities including Bangalore and Kolkata. Presently, the company has retail partners in these cities, with 40 being only in Delhi.

Noavtium Nova NetPC is very reasonable with a price tag of only MR 4,300 or US $ 100, which approximately comes to Rs.4,219 when converted into Indian currency.

Other than this, the company has also tied up with MTNL in Delhi. Earlier it had conducted pilot studies for its product with collaboration with the same, and now it is preceding towards the expansion plans. Novatium is signing a commercial deal with MTNL this month, under which a PC and computing services would be provided to the customers with all MTNL broadband plans.

Jaidep Kohli, who is the CEO of Novatium Solutions reported, “In the pilot project, MTNL included it in their Rs 399 broadband plan. Under the revenue sharing agreement, MTNL kept Rs 100 for the net connectivity while Novatium got Rs 299 for computing services per user.”

The Nova NetPC would be provided with all the MTNL broadband services to the customers, but the end decision to buy the PC entirely depends on the users. Kohli said that they have a target to sell at least 1lakh NetPC’s by the end of this year in India. Other than this, they are also in negotiation with other service providers across country to launch PC in other cities. Kohli added, “Mumbai will be launched next month. Within this financial year, we will spread out to top 10 Indian metros.”
