Children in poor countries are at similar risks of getting affected to the illnesses as are the children in wealthy areas and thus, some international donors have been led by Britain and Bill Gates, who have pledged on Monday, to spend $4.3 billion to buy vaccines to protect children in poor countries against potential killers such as diarrheal diseases and pneumonia.
With the help of this funding, definitely the authorities would be serving more than 250 million of the world's poorest children enabling them to get vaccinated against the illnesses by 2015, which will further serve to prevent more than four million premature deaths, confirmed by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).
"Today is an important moment in our collective commitment to protecting children in developing countries from disease", said Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who attended the pledging conference in London. "But every 20 seconds, a child still dies of a vaccine-preventable disease. There's more work to be done", he further added in his statement.
British Prime Minister, David Cameron has earlier also put his best efforts in defending increased spending on aid during the time when there were sharp domestic spending cuts and thus now also he has pledged $1.3 billion for the help, which is almost a third of the total raised but is definitely more than the $3.7 billion that GAVI had hoped for.
