Oklahoma shoplifter pushes own kids into heavy traffic to escape
An Oklahoma shoplifter has been charged with felony child abuse for allegedly pushing his two children into a busy street to help his escape.
The Tulsa World has reported that Antonio Monjaras, 32, is being held without bail in Tulsa. He was arrested about a month after he allegedly tried to take almost $100 worth of items from a Wal-Mart without paying on Feb. 19.
Monjaras had the stolen goods and his two children, Angelyna, 3, and Antonio Jr., 1, in a shopping cart, investigators say. When security guards got close, he allegedly shoved the cart into traffic, forcing the officers to rescue the children, giving up their pursuit.
Monjaras is charged with retail larceny, in addition to the child-abuse charge. Additional charges in other counties are also faced by him. (With Inputs from Agencies)
