Orissa Launches Childcare Scheme ‘Yashoda’

New born children in government hospital at Sambalpur, Orissa will now Orissa Launches Yashoda For Child Carefind Yashoda to take care of them.

While informing the chief district medical officer (CDMO) of Sambalpur, Dr. PK Nayak said, “This is totally a new concept all over the country started for the first time at Sambalpur.”

Mr. PK Hota, the director of Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI) and the former health secretary in government of India, stated, “After the success of Janani Surakshya Yojana in the country, the care for children taking born in hospitals was thought for and the scheme Yashoda is put in the place.”

The main purpose of the scheme is to encourage mothers to stay at least for 48 hours in the hospital and also look after the newly born child.

“Well cared mother and child can make the future better. At the same time they can contribute immensely for the economic growth of the nation,” Mr. Hota said.

He also said that Orissa would get an annual funding of Rs 1.5 crore under the plan, and added that he asked for fair utilisation of the funds.

Mr, Sanatan Bisi, health minister Orissa, launched the scheme in presence of the director of NIPI, RDC and collector of Sambalpur, director of national rural health mission, chief district medical officer of Sambalpur.

“Since the scheme is started at Sambalpur for the first time, it is a matter of pride for us. The Yashoda workers here should set examples in the country,” the minister appealed adding “Jharsuguda and Angul will be covered under the scheme very shortly”.
