OSCE to discuss European security and post-war Georgia

OSCE to discuss European security and post-war GeorgiaCorfu, Greece - Foreign ministers from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) are scheduled to meet on Sunday to discuss European security and post-war Georgia.

The OSCE session attended by the 56-member-states will examine a new European security plan proposed by Russia President Dmitry Medvedev, as well Western-Russian grievances fueled by the Georgia conflict.

An informal European Union review of ties with Iran over its post-election crackdown on opposition protesters will also be on the agenda.

The EU minister are expected to reiterate the positions of the G8 powers on Iran, namely condemning the violence stemming from Iran's disputed presidential election.

The recent G8 meeting in Trieste called for the crisis to be settled soon through democratic dialogue and peaceful means.

Approximately 20 people were killed in protests over Iran's June 12 election result, the worst unrest since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. (dpa)
