Pechstein to hear CAS decision on November 25 Lausanne, Switzerland - Five-time Olympic speed skating champion Claudia Pechstein will hear the outcome of an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against a ban imposed for blood doping on November 25, sport's highest tribunal announced Thursday.

A decision was originally expected this week and the deferral means Pechstein can not compete in this weekend's World Cup event in Hamar, Norway.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport said after a two-day hearing before a three-strong panel of arbitrators in Lausanne that a final decision on the case was not expected before November 10.

The court, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, said the 37-year-old German can train pending a decision on her appeal to the court against the ban, but cannot take part in competition.

Pechstein welcomed the decision, saying: "Looking ahead to the Olympic Games (in Vancouver in February) this will make a lot of things easier."

The 37-year-old German has protested her innocence and told a press conference Thursday in Berlin that eight of the 20 blood test results used by the ISU were not identical with that of the athlete.
