Army chief Katawal might be relieved: Nepal Finance MinisterKathmandu, Apr 21: Nepal Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that the Chief of Army Staff General Rookmangud Katawal could be sacked if he fails to furnish clarification on some serious issues.

Dr Bhattarai said that if General Katawal failed to defend himself against charges of "grossly" defying government orders, he would be relieved of his command.

Nepal Finance Minister Dr Baburam BhattaraiKathmandu, Sept 22: Nepal Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has apologized to the Legislature-Parliament for his carelessness while presenting the government's budget for the current fiscal year 2008-09 on Friday.

Dr Bhattarai apologized to the house after Nepali Congress member Laxman Ghimire raised concern over Bhattarai's blunders.

As Speaker Subas Nembang was about to proceed with deliberations on the government's budget, Ghimire expressed serious objection as Dr. Bhattarai had skipped 35 major clauses while reading out the budget speech.

Bhattarai clarifies he is not a RAW agent

Dr Baburam BhattaraiKathmandu, Aug 8 : Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) parliamentary party deputy leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai has refuted media reports that claimed that he has clandestine links with some foreign power centres.

Nepalese media reports said that Dr. Bhattarai has close links with the Indian establishment more so, India’s intelligence agency RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) which was pressurising the Maoists paraphernalia to elevate Bhattarai as the Nepal’s Prime Minister in place of Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Maoists’ party chief.
