Slain Jharkhand police inspector Francis Induwar’s wife has been appointed as a teacher in a government school in Ranchi.

Governor K Sankaranarayanan handed over the appointment letter to Sunita at a function at the Jharkhand Armed Police grounds on Saturday.

Accepting the appointment letter, Sunita, who has been a housewife, said teachers were responsible for creating good officers and professionals. “I will discharge the duty of a teacher with full dedication.”

Jharkhand police inspector Francis Induwar (50), whose decapitated body was found on the Ranchi-Jamshedpur highway on Tuesday, was described by his wife Sunita Induwar as a “totally innocent man who had never harmed anyone in society”.

She had said this in an appeal to the Maoists through the print and electronic media on Monday, asking them to release him from captivity.

A 1989-batch police inspector, Induwar was one of the 3,500 Special Branch officials deployed across Jharkhand for intelligence gathering.
