Kabul - Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Monday left Kabul for New York to attend the opening of the 63rd UN General Assembly and meet world leaders including US President George W Bush.
On Wednesday, Karzai is scheduled to address session to inform about the progress his country has made against terrorism, the presidential palace said in a statement.
Kabul - Afghan President Hamid Karzai "strongly condemned" the bombing of a hotel in neighbouring Pakistan and called for serious fight against terrorism.
Karzai "strongly condemned the massive explosion which hit the Marriot Hotel in Federal Capital of Pakistan killing at least 60 people and injuring dozens more," the presidential palace said in a statement.

Karzai's order was aired by Afghan TVs and radio in which he asked Afghan forces to avoid using weapons unless attacked by the Taliban militants, who have waged a bloody insurgency in the country since their ouster in late 2001.
Kabul - Afghan President Hamid Karzai said Thursday he supported a new US strategy in the war against terror, which includes military operations inside Pakistan, and called for more international aid and training for his country's security forces.
"The new strategy is something that me and my colleagues in the Afghan government have talked about three and a half years ago," Karzai said at a press conference marking the seventh anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks for which the al-Qaeda terror network claimed responsibility.
Islamabad, Sept 10 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai have reportedly resolved to stand together in the fight against terrorism. The two said at a joint press conference held here last evening shortly after Zardari was sworn in as the Pakistan’s President.
