Bollywood hottie Kajol, and multitalented actors Tabu and Irrfan Khan were overwhelmed by the Padma Shri honor bestowed on them on the eve of Republic Day..

Daughter of veteran actress Tanuja and late Bengali film producer Shomu Mukherjee, Kajol entered the Hindia film industry with Bekhudi in the year 1992 at 17.

However, Kajol relished commercial success with her second flick Baazigar and later there was no looking back for her.

The 35-year-old has given huge hits including Karan Arjun, DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, K3G and most recently My Name Is Khan.

Mumbai, Jan 21- From Doordarshan serials to Hollywood films, Irrfan Khan has traversed a long path. The 48-year-old actor says he is very conscious about which project he chooses as it's his work that sells, not his looks.

"I am choosy because it's not my face that sells. My work is what people like and want to see again and again; so I can't repeat myself," Irrfan told IANS in an interview.

Irrfan Khan is one Indian actor in recent times, who has been doing quite good in Hollywood. The 48-year-old Indian actor started his Hollywood journey in 2007 with Michael Winterbottom directed film 'A Mighty Heart'.

Abu Dhabi, Oct 23:Actor Irrfan Khan, who wowed the international audiences with his performances in "A Mighty Heart" and "Slumdog Millionaire", says he is lucky to have bagged good roles in foreign films and wants to work with director Danny Boyle again.

"I find myself very fortunate. The kind of films I chose in the West, I won't get it anywhere," Irrfan told IANS in an interview.

The actor says he wants to team up with "Slumdog..." director Danny Boyle again.

The music launch of Aap Entertainment's film 'Knock Out' was held on Monday on the sets of Star Plus's show Chotte Ustad. Present at the music release was the entire cast and crew of Knock Out, Sanjay Dutt, Irrfan Khan and Kangna Ranaut, Producers Sohail Maklai and Mr. Nag and Director Mani Shankar. The melodious soudtrack of the film is given by Gaurav Dasgupta.

Also present was Sunidhi Chauhan who also sang one of the tracks of the movie. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who is one of the judges of the show has also lent his voice for one of the tracks of the film and sang a few lines for the audience.

Mumbai, July 28 - "Knock Out" director Mani Shankar had a tough time stonewalling Irrfan Khan's insistent requests that he be allowed to throw some punches in the film, a la the leonine Sanjay Dutt. It was Sanjay who finally convinced Irrfan that the toughie look would not fit his role of an investment banker.

Irfan is an international actor. Madholal Keep Walking was offered to Irfan but he didn’t respond. Finally the producer turned to Bengali film superstar Subrat Dutta.

One of the amazing things happened in Cairo Film festival when Madholal Keep Walking’s screening was held and Madhur Bhandarkar, Irfan, and Jay Tank were together. They appreciated the film.

Jay’s happiness had no limits when Subrat Dutta received the best actor’s award. Irfan acknowledged the acting and the film pretty well.

Knock Out director Mani Shankar was not willing to comply with Irrfan's insistent requests that he be allowed to do his own share of action to look at par with the film's leonine action hero Sanjay Dutt.

In fact, Irrfan wanted to go further. He wanted to kill the villain in the climax of Knock Out. The thought exasperated and amused Sanjay Dutt and the director Mani Shankar since Irrfan's character didn't fit the role of the avenging macho man.

I didn’t even know there was a film called Unknown, from which the premise and pretty much this entire picture is lifted. That flick, I am told, part Usual Suspects (copied as Chocolate in Hindi), part Reservoir Dogs (made once as Kaante) was so unknown, it barely made it to DVDs in America.

If anything, this film says a lot about the advances made in the motion-picture plagiarism industry of Mumbai in the past few years. It’s no longer a case of innocent artistes with a lifetime of writers’ block, looking to pass off versions of Hollywood films as their own.

According to reports, Irrfan Khan’s role in Cate Blanchett starrer “Indian Summer” is modeled on country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.  

The film, likely to hit the theaters in 2011, is based on the book “Indian Summer: The Secret History of the End of an Empire” written by Alex von Tunzelmann.  

It is learnt that Blanchett will enact the role of Mountbatten, the wife of the last British viceroy of India.  

Slumdog Millionaire opened Hollywood’s doors for Indian Actors. Irrfan one of the favorite actors of Bollywood and Hollywood finds it very interesting after what Slumdog has done not only to Indian Cinema but also the world cinema. Mumbai, May 4 : Ahead of World Thalassemia Day, Bollywood actors Irrfan Khan, Sonali Kulkarni and Sonu Sood, joined underprivileged children affected with the blood disorder, in Mumbai.

The actors shared some time with the kids and also distributed gifts and watched a film along with them.

The function was organised by a voluntary group, ''We Care Trust'', that works for the prevention of Thalassemia.

Khan urged people to undergo a test for Thalassemia.

Irrfan Khan was shooting for Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Paan Singh Tomar in the jungles of Dholpur when he was left stunned on realising that dacoits had raided a village very near to their shooting locale.

A unit source reveals, “Our whole crew had to face a harrowing time but were given complete protection during the shoot. After the incident the whole crew was given special coverage and especially Irrfan. The whole crew was scared and didn’t know how to react as they had seen dacoits only in the movie and none of them had seen them face to face.”

For now, Irrfan Khan is saying no to every assignment being offered to him to focus on the toughest and most challenging role of his career.

The producers of Oscar-winning movie 'Slumdog Millionaire,' Fox Searchlight want to sign Irrfan Khan as the lead actor in their film.

Washington, Feb 25: Slumdog Millionaire actor Irrfan Khan, who's riding high on the Oscar success of the film, is up for a part in the movie version of "Life of Pi," according to reports.

Ang Lee is being lined up to adapt the novel into a Hollywood movie.

The director is in talks over the adaptation of Yann Martel's novel. The Man Booker prize-winning book tells the tale of a lone shipwreck survivor who shares his lifeboat with a hyena, an injured zebra, an orang-utan and a tiger.

Six weeks ago when actor Irrfan Khan was in Jaipur, he had foretold an Oscar sweep for Slumdog Millionaire which bordered on over-enthusiasm at the time. But, on Monday in Los Angeles he was among the film's ecstatic crew that walked away with eight, the maximum, golden statuettes, just as he had predicted.  

Khan who played the inquisitive police inspector who sees truth in the film's protagonist suspected of manipulating the game show could not sleep the night before the ceremony. 

Islamabad, Feb 12: Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has been felicitated by British House of Commons for his outstanding contribution to the Indian film industry.

The 46-year-old actor received the honour from Khalid Mahmood, Labour MP from Birmingham Perry Barr in the House of Commons.

Khan, who played the role of a Police Inspector in critically acclaimed Slumdog Millionaire, expressed his happiness over the film's huge success.
