Harry Potter actor escapes jail term for growing cannabis in bedroomLondon, July 22 : Harry Potter actor Jamie Waylett has escaped jail term for growing cannabis in his bedroom.

City of Westminster Magistrates Court has sentenced him to 120 hours of unpaid community work, reports the Daily Express.

Waylett, who plays Hogwarts school bully Vincent Crabbe, was arrested under anti-terror laws after he took a photo of a police patrol near Parliament in April.

Police found pictures of cannabis plants on his mobile phone.

Waylett, 19, who played the role of Hogwarts bully Vincent Crabbe in the hit films, was arrested after cops stopped him and pal John Innis in an Audi.

Innis, 20, was caught with eight bags of cannabis and a butterfly knife along with a digital camera containing pictures of cannabis plants.

Waylett has admitted that the pictures were taken in his bedroom.

Waylett, who plays the beefy bully Vincent Crabbe in the `Harry Potter' movie franchise, was first arrested in April after cops found bags of cannabis in his car, reports the New York Daily News.

The 18-year-old was charged shortly before the London premiere of `Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,' the sixth instalment of the widely popular series based on the books by British author J. K. Rowling.
