Hudson heads list of performers at Grammy Awards

Jennifer HudsonLos Angeles - Jennifer Hudson, whose mother, brother and nephew were murdered in October, will head the list of performers at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards on February 8, it was announced Tuesday.

It will be her second performance since the tragedy, coming a week after she sings the national anthem at the Superbowl on February 1.

Hudson will be joined by stars like Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Coldplay, Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne, and Katy Perry as other acts who will perform at the awards show.

According to reports, the grieving star was to make her first public appearance ever since the murder of her mother, brother and nephew in October (08), at the event.

Rumours that the 27-year-old Hudson would be singing `The Star-Spangled Banner' at Obama''s inauguration have been dispelled by her representative.

"There is no truth to this," Contactmusic quoted Hudson's rep as saying.

Hudson will be making her first public appearance in February, when she pays tribute to Neil Diamond at the MusiCares Person of the Year event in Los Angeles.

If reports are to be believed, this would be her first performance since her mother, sister and nephew were brutally murdered in Chicago in October last year.

"Organizers want Jennifer to sing ''The Star-Spangled Banner'' at the Inauguration on Jan. 20," the New York Post quoted a source as saying.

"They are talking to Jennifer about it. It would be the first time she performed since the murders. She is from Chicago and a huge Obama supporter," the source added.
