The legendary German will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his Formula One debut, which took place on August 25 1991 at the Spa circuit.

Although the two decades have included three seasons in retirement, it is still an incredible achievement by the 42-year-old to be competing at motorsport''s highest level.

He was dozing in the back of their old van in the middle of the night at a service station as he and his dad made the long trip back from a kart race in Scotland to the south of England.

The 12-year-old Button caught the conversation. It hurt, but he never mentioned it to his dad for years, until he was in Formula One.

The Formula 1 ace had banned the lingerie model from going to Brazil with him so he could concentrate on snatching the title.

“I want to thank my family and Jessica. I love you, this is for you,” The Sun quoted Button, 29, as saying.

A jubilant Button celebrated taking the Formula 1 crown yesterday – by belting out an off-key version of Queen’s hit “We are the Champions” as he crossed the finish line.

The British ace took both hands off the wheel, punched the air and screamed the lyrics: “We are the champions, my friends!”
