Mumbai, Jan 28 - Filmmaker Karan Johar is ecstatic with the reception of his latest production "Agneepath", helmed by a debutant director, Karan Malhotra, who is getting rave reviews. Johar says he has a natural instinct for choosing his directors.

In the recent past, Johar has given a platform to first-time directors like Ayan Mukherji for "Wake Up Sid"; Rensil D'Silva for "Kurbaan"; Tarun Mansukhani for "Dostana"; Siddhartha Malhotra for "We Are Family"; and Punit Malhotra for "I Hate Luv Storys".

Mumbai Jan 28 - The beginning of the year saw the biggest opening ever. Karan Johar's "Agneepath" has set a new record on its opening day and promises to pick up in the weekend like never before.

Apparently, the team of Agneepath gathered on the set of Yash Raj to celebrate the success with the media. Unlike, Karan Johar's other love stories, Agneepath seemed to have more brawl and violence in it.

Mumbai, July 13 : Filmmaker Karan Johar is all set to direct "Student Of The Year" from Aug 16 and says he's more excited than nervous because this is his first movie with newcomers.

"More excited than nervous. This is the first time I'm working with newcomers. I hope all three of them Siddharth, Varun and Aliya turn out well. I feel they've humongous talent. But that could just be a proud parent's opinion. Next summer I hope the audience discovers them to be as talented as I did," he said.

New Delhi, May 16 : Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, who has hit films like "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" to his credit, was Monday appointed the goodwill ambassador of Britain's national tourism agency VisitBritain's global "Britain You're Invited" campaign. He says he loves Britain for its culture and variety of options for entertainment.

Mumbai, April 2 - Producer-director Karan Johar would watch India taking on Sri Lanka in the final of the cricket World Cup-2011 at home with his mother, Hiroo Johar. He might also also catch the high-voltage cricket action at buddy Shah Rukh Khan's house.

"I would watch the match with my mother at home. She is old and can't handle going to at the stadium. So I will rather watch it at home with her," Karan told IANS.

Mumbai, March 24 : Filmmaker Karan Johar, who has delivered his biggest blockbusters with Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan, wants to battle the superstar phenomenon and says young talent needs to be empowered.

Ace Bollywood film maker Karan Johar was all braced to append some extra sparkle, naughtiness and enjoyment to the second part of his romantic comedy 'Dostana', however, the most recent reports disclose that he might have to drop the film at the moment.

'Dostana' explored the tale of two males who acted to be gay with the aim to rent an apartment house from an older lady.

The movie proved to be a leader and was announced a noisy success. Its sequel 'Dostana 2 was long awaited by the buffs but to their shock the sequel is being postponed at the present.

Mumbai, Feb 3 - Director-producer Karan Johar, who has made many hit films, feels that filmmakers today lack the passion and the vision that great yesteryears' directors had.

"We solely lack the passion. I don't think we have the passion, the vision and the madness yesteryear filmmakers had. I think we (the current lot of filmmakers) are too pragmatic, too practical, too commercial and too much focus on the dynamics of the movie industry."

Bollywood churns out more than 200 films per year and yet not all are super hits. Though most film makers are experts in their fields with a whole load of experience behind them, yet not every film they make turns out to be a block buster. Despite looking for the perfect composers for the music which could match up to the likes of Laxmikant Pyarellal the composers for the original, he was not able to get the satisfactory and required music composers.
