Qatar, Nov 10 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is on a three-day visit to Gulf countries met ruler of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani on Monday.
Singh spoke to Thani about wide-range of issues including economic, commercial and energy ties between the two countries.
Leaders of both the nations also discussed measures to tackle global recession and also talked about bilateral trade and cooperation. Supply of natural gas was another subject, which came up for discussion.
Muscat, Nov 9 : Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh on Saturday said that he expected India''s economy to grow by a healthy 7 to 7.5 per cent in 2009, despite the global financial crisis eroding output across sectors.
Addressing the business community here, Dr. Singh said, "Due to the current financial crisis, growth rate may come down somewhat next year, but I am still confident that we will be able to achieve a rate of between 7-7.5 per cent."
"We are extremely pleased to see the rapid progress, which Oman has made under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Oman''s progress is a tribute to the hard work and spirit of enterprise of its people and the wise stewardship of His Majesty, he added.
New Delhi/Chicago, Nov. 9 : Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is yet to receive a call from U. S. president-elect Barack Obama.
According to sources, officialdom in New Delhi is concerned that Obama has put Dr. Singh low on the list of world leaders he has telephoned since Thursday, though congratulatory messages have been sent by President Pratibha Patil and Dr. Singh soon after Obama won the race for the White House on November 4.
So far, Obama has spoken to 15 world leaders, including Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.
New Delhi - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday began a three-day visit to the energy-rich Gulf nations of Oman and Qatar for talks on investment, trade and energy.
Federal Petroleum Minister Murli Deora, Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi and Planning Comission chief Montek Singh Ahluwalia are accompanying Singh.
In a statement ahead of his visit, Singh said: "The Gulf region is an area of vital importance for India's security and prosperity. We have always enjoyed a very special relationship with countries of the region."
New Delhi, Nov 8 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is leaving for a three-day visit to Oman and Qatar on Saturday afternoon.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by a high level delegation. On the first leg of his visit Dr. Singh will hold talks with the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos Bin Al-Sayed, and other leaders on various issues.
This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Qatar.
Energy security and welfare of Indian citizens in the Gulf region will be high on the agenda of talks between Dr. Singh and leaders of Oman and Qatar.
