Platini says Ukraine could be deprived of Euro championships

Paris - UEFA president Michel Platini said that Ukraine could be deprived of playing co-host with Poland to the Euro-2012 football championships, the daily L'Equipe reported Friday.
"We have to take a decision by the beginning of December," Platini said. "December is the deadline."
UEFA issued a November 30 deadline two months ago when it picked all four Polish host cities but only Kiev (pending improvements) from the Ukraine cities due to ongoing intrastrucure problems.
The decision on Donetsk, Lviv and Kharkiv will then be made in December.

Paris - European football supremo Michel Platini is annoyed by Real Madrid's summer spending spree but there is no way to stop the Spanish giants from splashing out the money.
"I believe that this whole thing is not quite normal. I don't like it," the UEFA president Platini told Thursday's edition of French sports daily L'Equipe.

London, June 12 : UEFA president Michel Platini is unhappy with the megabucks deal that has seen Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo shift his allegiance from Manchester United to Real Madrid.
The Sun quoted Platini, as saying: "These excessive transfers are happening almost every day. They represent a serious challenge to the idea of fair play and the concept of financial balance in our competitions."
Platini calls for tough action against racism

Nyon, Switzerland - Europe's governing football body UEFA on Tuesday called for tough action against racism in football stadiums and said they would not rule out abandoning matches.
"It is our wish that matches are interrupted for ten minutes if there are racist chants in a stadium. There should also be stadium announcements. If the chants continue the game should be abandoned," UEFA President Michel Platini said.
"We need to be brave when there is racism on the terraces. That is UEFA's brief."
Platini gives Poland thumbs up for Euro 2012

Warsaw - UEFA president Michel Platini gave Poland the thumbs up Thursday after an inspection in Warsaw on the country's preparations for the Euro 2012 football championships.
Platini said he did not see any problems in Poland and was convinced Euro 2012, being co-hosted with Ukraine, would be a success.
The former France international said Poland would have beautiful stadiums, but more importantly football would develop in the former Soviet bloc.
