New York, Sep 6: Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic defeated Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov 7-6 (16-14), 6-4, 6-2, at New York's Louis Armstrong Stadium on Monday to reach the quarterfinals of the US Open.
Djokovic has now won 61 of the 63 matches he has played in 2011.
The World No. 1 said that Dolgopolov showed no fear and used an array of shots around the court to wrong-foot him.
"It was strong wind, tricky conditions, he's the kind of player who knows how to play in these conditions," the Age quoted Djokovic, as saying.

New York, Sep. 2 : Top-seeded Novak Djokovic has cruised into the third round of the U. S. Open with a 6-0 6-0 6-2 victory over Argentina''s Carlos Berlocq in the second round.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Djokovic has lost a total of three games in his first two matches at Flushing Meadows.
His first opponent retired while trailing 6-0 5-1.
The world No. 1 improved to 59-2 this season and moved a win closer to his third major title of the year.

“It was unbelievably difficult. Gael was very unpredictable and he was hitting the ball very good,” The Herald Sun quoted Djokovic, as saying.
Djokovic’s first Masters triumph from his five finals in 2009, he defeated Monfils 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3) in front of a sellout crowd at the Palais Omnisports.

Paris - Novak Djokovic denied Rafael Nadal a 400th career victory Saturday as he crushed the Spaniard 6-2, 6-3 to place into a third ATP final in six weeks at the Paris Masters.
Nadal, seeded second, had no answer on the day for the third- seeded Serb, who will play his tenth final of 2009 against either Czech 13th seed Radek Stepanek or the last home hope in the field, Gael Monfils.
The Djokovic win in 76 minutes was only his sixth in the series against 14 defeats.

Hamburg - Roger Federer enjoyed another week atop the men's tennis rankings issued on Monday by the ATP, while the man who beat him in the Basle final, Novak Djokovic, closed in on second place.
Federer took 10,340 points into this week's Paris Masters. Spain's Rafael Nadal has 8,845 points and the Serbian Djokovic is on 8,300 after beating Federer in three sets Sunday in his native Switzerland.
