New Delhi, Nov. 14 : Many of my generation have fond memories of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Much has been written about his contribution to the freedom struggle, his role as the first Prime Minister of India, and how he propounded non-alignment and emerged as a world leader. But many of us who had the chance to meet him still recall the warmth he effused toward all human beings whom he came across.
New Delhi, Nov 14 : The nation today paid homage to the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, on his 119th birth anniversary.
Because of Nehru''s affection for children, the day is also observed as Children''s Day.
In New Delhi, a function was organized in the central Hall of Parliament where leaders of various political parties offered floral tributes to him. Early in the morning an all religion prayer meeting was held at his Samadhi at Shanti Van.
