Forward player Rajpal Singh has been reappointed as skipper of Indian hockey team for the upcoming 12-nation Hockey World Cup starting from 28th February.

The five members Indian selection committee including Ajitpal Singh, Zafar Iqbal, BP Govinda, Madhu Yadav and Sita Mehta, declared Rajpal as captain while the Indian coach Jose Brasa was in favor of making Prabhjot Singh as skipper of Indian team.

A senior team player admitted that they were expecting that a senior player like Arjun Halappa, Prabhjot Singh will be named skipper of team but they are surprised by this decision of Hockey India (HI) as Rajpal has not yet any World Cup outing.

Salta (Argentina), Dec 9 : India played an attacking game to outplay China 4-1 in a pool A match of the Champions Challenge hockey tournament underway here.

Prabhjot Singh (7th minute) Rajpal Singh (35), Sarwanjit Singh (56) and Shivendra Singh (70) scored for India. China pulled one back through Yi Song in the 41st minute.

Having drawn their opening match against New Zealand, India showed intent against China right from the start Tuesday.

India were promptly on the attack and earned a series of penalty corners. They missed the first one, before Prabhjot scored from the second on a rebound.

New Delhi, Nov 13 : Rajpal Singh will lead the Indian hockey team in the Champions Challenge at Salta, Argentina, Dec 6-13.

The Indian team will leave for Madrid, Spain, for a week's training cum competition en route to Salta on Nov 23 for the eight-nation tournament, Hockey India said in a statement Friday.

India have been drawn in Pool A with Belgium, China and New Zealand, while Pool B consists of hosts Argentina, Canada, Pakistan and South Africa.

India will take on New Zealand on Dec 6, followed by China on Dec 8 and Belgium on Dec 10.
