Nepal President for political consensus on COAS row: Prachanda

Dr Ram Baran YadavKathmandu, Apr 22 : Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal met President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at his residence early this morning and briefed him about the row involving his government and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Rookmangud Katawal.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Dahal said President Yadav had directed him to seek a political consensus on the issue.

"The discussion was positive," Dahal added.

Dahal will hold an emergency meeting of the central secretariat, his party and council of ministers to discuss the matter later in the day.

US keen on helping Nepalese government, envoy says

Dr Ram Baran YadavKathmandu - A senior US State Department official said Wednesday that his country was keen on helping Nepal's Maoist-led government.

US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher, who arrived in Kathmandu Wednesday on a two-day visit, said he would hold talks on a range of issues with Nepalese leaders.

"We will be talking about how the US can contribute to Nepal's development and how we can perhaps continue to assist in the countries political process further," Boucher told reporters.

Nepal President intensifies consultations on issuing ordinancesKathmandu, Feb 3  Nepal President Dr Ram Baran Yadav today met several experts on promulgation of ordinances.

Dr. Yadav, who has the right of putting an official stamp on the ordinances, met the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) Chairman Bishwakant Mainali, senior advocates Sindhunath Pyakurel, Purna Man Shakya, Shambhu Thapa and Badri Bahadur Karki at his office in Shital Niwas.

Dr. Yadav has intensified consultations in order to settle the ordinance row in an uncontroversial manner.

Nepal President visit to India postponed

Nepal President Dr Ram Baran YadavKathmandu, Jan 27 : Nepal President Dr Ram Baran Yadav''s proposed visit to India has been postponed by a few days considering the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh''s health.

President''s press advisor Rajendra Dahal informed that Dr Yadav''s India visit was put off citing ailing health condition of Dr. Singh.

President Yadav had planned to leave for India on February 11 on what was described as a goodwill visit.

However, no official decision had been taken regarding the President''s visit to India, Dahal said.
