New York, Sept 10: The tennis duo comprising Rohan Bopanna of India and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan have crashed out of the semi-final match of the US Open.

The Indo-Pak Express lost to the Polish pair of Mariusz Frystenberg and Marcin Matkowski 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in the semi-final clash on Saturday.

Qureshi-Bopanna had beaten the English duo of Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins 7-5, 2-5, 7-5 in the quarterfinal match.

Qureshi-Bopanna took the first set in 45 minutes, but the British duo dictated the second set and made sure it was a hard-fought victory for the Indo-Pak Express, the Dawn reports.

The second seeded Indo-Taipei pair defeated Inigo Cervantes Huegun and Guillermo Plaso of Spain in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinal to move to the next round.

Bopanna-Lu duo will now clash with the local pair of Denis Istomin and Murad Inoyatov in the semifinal. Denis-Murad thrashed the Russian pair of Michail Elgin and Evgeny Kirillov 6-3 6-0 in the quarterfinal.

The 210th-ranked Kudryavstev shocked Somdev 6-3, 6-4 to enter the quarterfinals.

New Delhi, Oct 5 : India's Rohan Bopanna marked his sensational comeback to singles play by making a quantum jump of 89 places to 358th in the Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) rankings released Monday.

The 29-year-old Bangalorean last week beat World No. 51 Argentine Jose Acasuso in the first round and then took a set off World No. 12 Chilean Fernando Gonzalez in the second.
