JMM Chief Shibu Soren Hospitalized In RanchiJMM President and former Jharkhand State Chief Minister Shibu Soren was hospitalized following a suspected urinary infection.

Soren, who is in his 60s, was admitted to the intensive care unit of Bokaro General Hospital.

Speaking with the reporters over JMM leader condition, BN Mahapatra (Medical director, Bokaro General Hospital) said, “"He is running a high fever and we suspect urine infection. Tests are being conducted.”

According to the doctors the blood pressure of the JMM leader was found high.

Shibu Soren resignsIn the aftermath of his defeat in the assembly by-poll, Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren today resigned after presiding over his constituency for a little over four months and projected a JMM MLA as his successor. "Maine apne aatma ki awaz ko suna aur apne pad se istifa de rahaa hoon (I am quitting on the call of my conscience)," he said.

"We have decided Champai Soren as our (chief ministerial) candidate. Yesterday I informed the central UPA leaders... I also called a meeting inviting state UPA allies but none came... The JMM will not change its decision on its candidate," he said.

Soren admitted to Ranchi hospital

Shibu SorenRanchi, Jan 13 : JMM President Shibu Soren has been admitted to a private hospital after he complained of heaviness in the chest.

According to sources at the Abdur Razzaque Ansari Memorial Weavers'' Hospital, besides heaviness in the chest, Soren complained of high blood pressure.

"Treatment is going on and his medical report is expected to be available by evening," the sources added.

Earlier in the day, Soren, who complained uneasiness, was rushed to the Central Coalfields Limited Hospital. Later, doctors referred him to the Appolo Hospital.

Shibu Soren likely to resign todayRanchi, Jan. 12 : Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, who had lost the assembly by-elections, is likely to resign today, paving the way for Champai Soren, another stalwart of the regional Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

Soren yesterday told reporters: "The JMM had met thrice and chose Champai Soren as its representative. We have sent this information to other members of our coalition in New Delhi and waiting for response. I am ready to resign."

On Champai selection, RJD chief Lalu Yadav said the UPA will take a final decision.

Ranchi, Jan. 11 : The cloud of political uncertainty is clearing from Jharkhand with Shibu Soren who had lost the assembly by elections, offered to resign paving the way for Champai Soren, another stalwart of the regional Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

Shibu Soren, who took over reigns of Jharkhand in August last year and, under a constitutional obligation, was required to win an assembly poll within six months to remain the Chief Minister of the state, lost the Tamar assembly election to his main opponent, Raja Peter who was a nominee of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Raja Peter of the regional Jharkhand Party (an ally of NDA) defeated Soren by the margin of 9,062 votes.

Shibu Soren loses in Tamar Assembly polls

Shibu SorenRanchi, Jan 8 : Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren on Thursday lost his Tamar Assembly seat to Jharkhand Party candidate Gopal Krishna Patar by a margin of 9000 votes.

Elections for the seat, which fell vacant after the gunning down of JD (U) legislature party leader Ramesh Singh Munda on July 9, 2008, were held on January 3 this year and counting was taken up today.

Meanwhile, the BJP has demanded resignation of Shibu Soren from the Chief Ministership of Jharkhand and president''s rule in the state.
