 England would have pressed ‘panic button’ if riots had occurred in India: GavaskarLondon, Aug. 10 : Former Indian cricket captain and batting legend Sunil Gavaskar has claimed that England would have ''hit the panic button'' if the UK riots had occurred in India.

Gavaskar's verbal swipe came as the two sides prepare to meet in the third Test at Edgbaston from today.

I don't get any preferential treatment: Stuart Broad

Sunil GavaskarLondon, Jan 1 : England all-rounder Stuart Broad has denied Sunil Gavaskar's claim that he gets preferential treatment because his father is an International Cricket Council match referee.

In the first Test, at Centurion last month, Broad confronted the umpires when he was given out after a delayed decision by the South Africa players to call for the new review system. Broad however escaped punishment.

The former India captain wrote in a newspaper: "Stuart's father Chris is one of (the) ICC's match referees and so the umpires are reluctant to make a complaint against the youngster."

Pass-less Gavaskar stopped at Eden Gardens gate

sunil-gavaskarKolkata, Dec 24 : So stringent was the security at the Eden Gardens that even cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar was denied entry to the ground for not carrying his pass during the fourth India-Sri Lanka one day match here Thursday.

Gavaskar, who is on a commentary assignment with official broadcaster Neo Sports, was asked to show his accreditation pass by the security men manning the gate when he was entering the stadium in the afternoon.

As Gavaskar had left his pass at the hotel, the security men refused to allow him in as per the rules, said sources in the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

"I admired lot of players but I loved watching Viv and Gavaskar. They are my favorite players," Miandad said after accepting the cap that marked his entry into the ICC''s Hall of Fame that includes 55 players.

Attending the ceremony to award Hall of Fame Caps to Miandad and Hanif Mohammad at the Gaddafi stadium, Miandad listed his innings at Sharjah against India as the best of his life, The Nation reported.
