Lahore, Sept 10: Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the US was targeting innocent people in Pakistani tribal area of Waziristan, and that his Government “will not make any compromise on Pakistan’s sovereignty and integrity”.
Gilani said this in a TV interview.
“Pakistan was passing through a difficult phase, but would not give in to any pressure,” the Daily Times quoted him as saying in the interview.
Islamabad, Sept 5 : Following reports that the PPP-led federal government was targeting the PML-N and the Punjab Government run by PML-N chief Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said in the National Assembly last evening that his government was not pursuing any case against the Sharif brothers.
Islamabad, Sept 4 : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that yesterday’s attack on his life didn’t come as a surprise to him, as he was informed in Lahore about the possible assassination plot on him in Islamabad. Consequently, he added, he had cancelled his travel to the federal capital on Tuesday night.
Islamabad, Aug 31 : last evening reportedly okayed the decision to increase power tariffs by 31 percent, giving rest to the fears of the common man (to some extent) that the power prices might shoot up by 50-60 percent.
This is said to be an unprecedented hike in power prices in the history of Pakistan.
The notification for the rise in power rates is expected to take place in a day or two. Earlier, it notification was to be issued on Friday.
Islamabad, Aug 31: Considering the fresh spate of terrorist incidents in the recent months across the country, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has announced setting up of a modern “psychotrauma research centre” to deal with the psychological effects of terrorist attacks.
Speaking at an international conference on psychotrauma, Gilani said his country needed to tackle this serious issue. “We will ensure the implementation of the Plan of Action as proposed by the conference to deal with the serious issue,” the Daily Times quoted him as saying.
Islamabad - Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday said "confrontationalism" of the past had done much damage to the nation but now the democratic forces have united to block dictatorship and adventurism.
Gilani's remarks came hours after President Pervez Musharraf called for shunning "a confrontational approach," as the ruling coalition expedited its efforts to impeach the embattled leader, if he did not resign.
