Philippine shares slide 2 per cent

Manila  - Philipine shares slipped 2.03 per cent on Friday tracking a fall on Wall Street over continued uncertainty over a rescue package for US carmakers.

The Philippine Stock Exchange's 30-share composite index dropped 39.38 points to close at 1,893.74.

A total of 831.17 million shares valued at 1.83 billion pesos (38.3 million dollars) were traded.

Losers outpaced gainers 69 to 18, with 29 issues unchanged.

Analysts said predictions by the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank that the Philippines will post weaker growth next year added to the negative investor sentiment. (dpa)
