Piramal group launches project to fight chronic diseases

On Saturday Pharmaceutical major Piramal Group in collaboration with ASSOCHAM and various NGOs, launched a project to provide affordable medicines in the rural areas to fight chronic diseases in various parts of the nation.  

The target for healthy food and healthy body was made for each and every individual through the program ‘help-your-body’ which was inaugurated by the former President APJ Abdul Kalam.  

Swati Piramal, Piramal Group's Director said, “Genetic causes, obesity, stress, inappropriate dietary habits and lack of exercise play a major role in causing chronic ailments.”

World Health Organization (WHO) reported that in the next ten years chronic diseases  will take lives of 38.8 crore people and most of them would be from India.
Piramal announced, "India is expected to be the chronic disease capital with over 70 million diabetics, 213 million hypertensive patients and 60 million with arthritis by 2025."

To fight against the deadly diseases, the former President advised the group to integrate and adopt various system of medicine like allopathy, homoeopathy, unani, siddha, ayurveda and yoga. This will also help the group to fight the chronic ailments at an affordable cost in the country.
