The SP has left six constituencies, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Ghaziabad, Dharora, Mathura and Kanpur for the Congress.

The Samajwadi Party earlier announced candidates for 65 constituencies, saying his party was ready to reconsider its list of already announced candidates for 65 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh if Congress comes down from its demand.

New Delhi, Feb 10 : The Samajwadi Party has said the Congress is using the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to settle scores with it.

"I am very ashamed to have given support to Congress who can go to this extent to fix their adversaries. Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel was attacked when the talks of seat sharing were going. When we are having talks of seat sharing with them, they have asked for CBI inquiry on us. We are not afraid of CBI," Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh told reporters here on Monday.

Dozens injured as Samajwadi party activists clash with police in Varanasi

Samajwadi PartyVaranasi, Oct 23 : Dozens including women were injured when Samajwadi party activists demonstrating against Mayawati Government clashed with police here today.

Police baton charged and used water canons to disperse the party workers who were staging a demonstration.

Samajwadi party, which was dislodged from power in the state by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) during last elections, has been accusing Mayawati as "anti development."

As per reports, police asked party workers to be calm as they were raising slogans against Mayawati as part of their three-day statewide campaign.

Mulayam to raise Jamia encounter issue in UPA-SP meet: Amar Singh

Amar SinghNew Delhi, Oct. 8 : Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh on Wednesday said that party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav would raise the demand for a judicial probe into the Jamia Nagar encounter when the Samajwadi Party meets the UPA leadership next week.

Talking to reporters after meeting the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh here, Singh said: "I raised the issue for a judicial probe with the PM. But as I was not assured anything on it, my party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav will raise the issue during the UPA-SP coordination committee meeting likely on October 14."

While addressing reporters here today, Singh said, "Shoot them if they are terrorists. But if they are innocent, then they should be given justice."
