Berlin - German luxury sports carmaker Porsche denied a media report Friday that embattled chief executive Wendelin Wiedeking would be replaced by Michael Macht, the company's production chief.
"We are not aware of this," a Porsche spokesman said after the news magazine Der Spiegel said on its website that Macht, 48, would take charge of the carmaker.
The Spiegel Online report said the Piech and Porsche family owners of the debt-ridden luxury carmaker had agreed to the change at the top of Porsche AG.
Wiedeking, 56, had been under fire for amassing more than 9- billion-euros (12.6 billion dollars) of debt by Porsche's holding company in building up a majority stake in Wolfsburg-based Volkswagen.(dpa)
