Pregnant Woman Dies Of Swine Flu In Pune; Toll Reaches 62

Swine-FluSwine flu epicenter, Pune has recorded its 62nd human swine flu-related death.

This time, a pregnant woman has succumbed to the deadly virus in the city.

Confirming the news, the health officials said that a 27-year-old pregnant woman named Jayashri Kale, admitted to a government hospital died on Tuesday evening.

Kale was six months pregnant.

Initially, the victim was admitted to a private hospital at Urali on September 22 and later was shifted to a government run hospital of the city.

Speaking with the media persons, Ashok Mehta, Joint director of state health services, said: "On September 25, Kale was referred to the Naidu hospital, where she was administered Tamiflu. As her condition was critical, she was referred to the Sassoon hospital the same day and put on the ventilator. She, however, died at 5.13 pm on Tuesday."

The victim had complained of cough, sore throat and high temperature.

Mehta also informed that over 21 persons had tested positive swine flu in the district on Tuesday.

Notably, Maharashtra is the worst hit swine flu state in the country.

It has reported more than 100 deaths so far.
