The Chief Minister (CM) of Delhi, Sheila Dixit, has launched another round of pulse polio campaign in the city by administering polio drops to children under the age of five.
She said, "Delhi is all set to succeed in pulse polio immunisation programme slated for tomorrow. The city has already achieved zero polio level though the level fluctuated due to import of virus from neighbouring states and it will strive hard to achieve zero level in true sense."
A unique step has been taken this time to ensure the success of this round of the campaign. A joint team of health experts have been invited from Japan and Hong Kong to help the Indian health personnel in executing the pulse polio campaign in the most effective manner.
Health Minister, P K Sreemathy inaugurated the programme. This news was revealed by the District Medical Officer, Dr V Divakaran, to the reporters.
During the campaign, 8,200 polio booths would be set up across the city to administer polio vaccine to children between the age group of 0-5 years, as reported by Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia.
