The reports of a 29-year-old woman who returned from London on Saturday with swine flu symptoms, has been tested negative.

An opthalmologist by profession, the woman is the resident of Kopargaon in Ahmednagar.

She was admitted in Pune’s Naidu Hospital on Saturday evening as she suspected that she might be affected by the killer virus.

The throat swab of woman has been forwarded to National Institute of Virology (NIV).

Dr. U Gawande from the health department said, “The National Institute of Virolgy confirmed that the samples of the 29-year-old who was quarantined in Pune after a visit to the UK tested negative.”

In the same way, a pair from Kandivali got admitted themselves to the Kasturba hospital after they developed swine flu symptoms following their visit to Hyderabad.

“The 31-year-old husband and his 29-year-old wife went to the Kasturba Hospital voluntarily and sought a thorough check-up,” said Dr. Jairaj Thanekar, executive health officer, BMC. “They were quarantined and their throat samples have been sent for tests on Saturday evening,” he said.

Dr. Gavande said that both the cases were that of self-reporting.

At different airports and ports in Maharashtra, over 11,954 passengers were screened for the deadly flu on Sunday but no flu symptoms were found in any of them.

Mr. J Thanekar, the civic executive health officer said, “We are prepared in case the pandemic intensifies. We can have up to 100 quarantine beds, have adequate stock of Tamiflu tablets and enough protective gear for over 50 medical staff members. But we don't want people to panic.”
