Pyramid Saimira plans to invest Rs 2 billion in South India

Country’s leading entertainment firm Pyramid Saimira Theatre has revealed that Pyramid Saimira plans to invest Rs 2 billion in South Indiathe company envisages to pump Rs 2 billion in the coming 18 months with the aim to hitech 250 theatres in the 4 southern states namely Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The sources close to the company said that the first theatre that will be renovated under this proposal is Jyothi Theatre in Tamil Nadu, a single- screen theatre having a seating capacity of 550 seats. 

While commenting on the plans, Mr. P. S Saminathan, chairman, Pyramid Saimira Group stated, “The company will be renovating theatres in 100 centers in Tamil Nadu, with an investment of close to Rs 750 million. It will be extending its renovation initiative to the other states also, with Kerala in November, Andhra Pradesh in December and Karnataka in January.”

“The company is looking to invest close to Rs 2 billion in infrastructure improvement program, which will offer all cine-viewers in South India, the best movie- viewing experience.” Mr. Saminathan added.

According to the sources, all the theatres will be equipped with computerized ticketing facilities and seat selection kiosks, along with the innovative digital projection and DTS sound technology.

Also, the theatres will have an integral mobile zone, renovated security and overhead projection facilities, radio and video booth for live TV.
 
Stock of Pyramid Saimira Theatre, slumped 5.75 per cent, to settle at Rs 92 on National Stock Exchange ( NSE). The total volume of shares traded was 151,774 at the NSE.
