Rain brings down mercury in Orissa

Rain brings down mercury in OrissaBhubaneswar, Nov 19 - A spell of rainfall has pushed the mercury down across Orissa -- a state which witnessed unusually high temperature a few days ago.

Bhubaneswar and Talcher, which recorded a maximum of 37.6 degree Celsius Sunday -- the hottest day in November in the last 57 years -- recorded 32 and 28.5 degrees respectively Wednesday, an official of the meteorological centre at the state capital here told IANS.

The temperature was down because many parts of the state had rain and thundershowers Tuesday and Wednesday, the official said.

More rain and thundershowers are likely in the state throughout Thursday, with heavy rain is some places, the official said, adding that this may bring down the temperature further. (IANS)
