Rajasthan University students welcome the New Year with milk not liquor

Rajasthan University students welcome the New Year with milk not liquorJaipur, Jan 1 : In a deviation from usual practice, the Rajasthan University students celebrated their New Year party by consuming milk instead of liquor.

The students offered cooked milk free of charge to spread the message of good health on Thursday (December 31).

"Elders say that if you consume liquor, you will lose yourself but if you have milk, you would live long. The milk has protein, which is healthy for your body, and liquor contains alcohol, which damages the liver. I say consume milk and be healthy," said Tilak, a student.

The organisers of the milk distribution event said that around 35,000 to 40,000 people were expected to consume milk.

"Last year 25,000 people consumed milk and at that point of time, we had unlimited quantity of milk. We have 30,000 litres of milk in a tanker of Jaipur Dairy, and they (Jaipur Dairy) say, ''If you inform us beforehand, we will provide you more.'' It looks that this time 35,000 to 40,000 people will consume milk," said Dharamveer Katewa, an organiser of the event.

The students claimed that people who relished milk, cooked slowly with sugar and nuts, would never prefer liquor. (ANI)
