Rajneeti: Movie Review!

Rajneeti: Movie Review!Prakash Jha's much-awaited flick 'Rajneeti', which is in theatres now, has wooed audiences with its story as well as star cast.

The film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Naseeruddin Shah, Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpayee, Arjun Rampal and Nana Patekar, is based on Indian political backdrop, and created quite some curiosity amongst viewers. The story of the film goes like this:

Cousins Veerendra Pratap Singh (Manoj Bajpayee) and Prithvi Pratap Singh (Arjun Rampal) are successors of a strong political party. However, when Prithvi gets nominated to take the lead, an irritated Veerendra joins hands with the backward class leader Sooraj (Ajay Devgan) to play games against his cousin Prithvi and evict him from the party.

Prithvi's younger brother Samar (Ranbir Kapoor), an outsider, has no political plans gets sucked into the political rivalry between the families.

Under the teaching of senior party and family member Brij Gopal (Nana Patekar), Samar takes hold of the conniving affairs of state to launch their individual political party, gather funds and get Prithvi fight against Veerendra. What unfolds next as the battle shifts ground to the elections forms the rest of the film.

The film is superb and a great effort by the master story teller, Prakash Jha. The film's script writer Anjum Rajabali weaves just the apt tale and screenplay that packs in all the treachery and dishonesty involved with Indian politics.

The reality that the makers succeeded in narrating the tale makes 'Rajneeti' a worthful watch.

Camerawork by Sachin Kumar Krishnan is great. The way he shot all things deserve applaud. On the other hand, the sound design also carries a good impact.

As projected Naseeruddin Shah, Nana Patekar and Ajay Devgan are at their best. Katrina Kaif receives rave reviews from all side for her breathtaking performance. Arjun and Ranbir deliver a power packed punch. Sara Thompson as Ranbir's foreigner girlfriend also leaves an impact in her relatively smaller part. But a performance that may win some awards for sure has been delivered by Manoj Bajpai. He is menacingly good. Shruti Seth, Vinay Apte, Kiran Karmarkar, Chetan Pandit and Nikhila Trikha are also very good.

Rajneeti is really a great watch. So, what're you waiting for, go and watch the film. (With Inputs from Agencies)
