Rajput Beats Pawar To Win MCA ElectionsThe former Indian coach Lalchand Rajput has defeated Sharad Pawar in the Mumbai Cricket Association's (MCA) biyearly elections as a candidate of MCA's joint secretary on Friday.

Rajput got 184 votes to win one of the two posts of joint secretaries, while his rival PV Shetty was shocked with 173 votes and Hemant Waingankar of Pawar group won the other post with 208 votes.

Prof Ratnakar Shetty, the chief Administrative Officer of the Board of Control for cricket in India, was elected for the treasurer's post as he defeated his rival Ravi Sawant quite easily by 174-133 votes.

While Nitin Dalal was re-elected in the managing committee with 231 votes, and Iqbal Shaikh and Sanjay Patil could managed to get 208 and 201 votes respectively.

Rajput overwhelmed by the win said that he was expecting this win, and he has not been surprised at all as this was first time in the history that any independent candidate has won the MCA elections.
