Raju granted bail on health grounds

Raju granted bail on health groundsUnder a major event in the Indian business circuit, B Ramalinga Raju, the tainted founder of Satyam Computer, was recently granted bail by the Andhra Pradesh High Court in a case that has become India's largest corporate fraud running into about Rs 14,000 crore.

It is to be mentioned here that Raju was arrested on January 9 last year and is currently undergoing treatment for liver infection in the state-run Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences.

Doctors treating Raju, who will turn 56 next month immediately called for a press conference as soon as the orders were out from the court that the Satyam founder has to undergo treatment for at least another 16-17 weeks.

It may easily be recalled here that after Raju accepted the fudging done by him in Satyam's books, the company was eventually taken over by Tech Mahindra, the IT arm of Mahindra Group. It may be noted here that Raju, the last of the 10 accused in the case to get bail, has been under treatment for Hepatitis-C since September last and he will not be out on bail for next four months, if he gets treated in the same hospital.
