Rajya Sabha Delayed Over Price Increase

Rajya Sabha Delayed Over Price IncreaseAn annoyed opposition Tuesday forced the deferment of the Rajya Sabha on the price increase issue, saying it should be discoursed as a "significant motion".

As soon as the house got together, Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came up to say that it has prompted two movements: one for deferment of the question hour and another for a conversation on the price increase matter under rule 167 and 168, which demands voting.

Mr. Hamid Ansari, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, stated that there had been a compromise on a debate but not on the process.

Mr. Prithviraj Chavan, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, attempted to get involved but was hushed up, cueing Ansari to postpone the house at 11.10 a. m. till noontime. (With Input from Agencies)
