RCom forms a pact with Universal Music
With foreign companies typing up with the Indian players there's a new addition to this. As Universal Music has entered into, a pact with Reliance Communications (RCom), in order to provide its services to the telecom giant.
As per the agreement Universal studios will give its music catalogue on the operator's platform and will also develop other music related properties. This makes a win- win situation for both the companies as Universal will mint moolahs by sharing its digital library and the telco will earn revenues from the services subscribed by the consumers.
The deal will span across all the platforms like including voice, WAP, web, IVR, blog & through on-ground events where investment will be equally shares by both the companies. The main objective of the deal is to provide 360 degree music experience to the users.
The users of this service can download music, view live concerts, do video streaming and even download ringtones on 3G phones. This will happen when these services get fully operational in India.
Universal music has a long list of as much as 300,000 tracks in its music catalogue. The services rendered under this deal will be named as Simply Music.
